　　sufficient “足够的”，指数量上能满足或达到某一需求，也可用于修饰抽象概念的名词，用法上相当于enough。

　　1) There is a real concern that food supplies will not be sufficient/enough to feed the increasing world population。

　　（食品供应将不能充足地供养不断增长的世界人口，确实引起人们的关注。）

　　2) We must have sufficient courage and determination to face the challenge and cope with it.

　　adequate “足够的”，指数量或质量上能满足某一要求不太高的需求，语气比sufficient 弱。该词还可指能力、才能、资历等符合要求。

　　2) His knowledge of Japanese is adequate for the job, although he is not fluent in the language.
