考研英语词汇辨析（65）shake、quake、tremble、quiver、shiver的区别

　　这组词指人时可还可表示“发抖”、“颤抖”、“哆嗦、“战栗”的意思。指人体因受外部刺激

　　或情绪刺激而颤抖。

　　shiver 常指因寒冷或情绪突变而出现短时间的轻微快速的颤抖。

　　1) She was beginning to shiver as the intense cold pervaded the room.

　　（当房间变得冰冷时，她身体开始颤抖。）

　　2）The little girl shivered at the thought of getting into the dark house alone.

　　(小女孩一想到要独自进入黑屋子不寒而粟。)

　　tremble 用法与shiver相同，语气比shiver强，多用因紧张，兴奋、愤怒、恐惧引起的颤抖。

　　1) He shivered at the thought of what would happen to him.

　　(他一想到可能发生的事就不寒而粟。)

　　2）She felt both nervousness and excitement when she took her driver’s test; her face was flushed and knees

　　trembled.

　　（参加驾照考试时她感到既紧张又兴奋，脸色发红双膝微微发抖。）

　　quiver 多指轻微而急促地颤动。

　　1) His lips quivered with excitement when he learned the good news.

　　（听到好消息他激动得两唇颤抖。）

　　2）The memory of what happened to him that day made him quiver with anger.

　　(想那天分手的事他就气得发抖。)

　　shake 和quake 语气较强，形容较大的颤抖，如全身发抖。

　　1) After she learned of the accident, the girl began to shake /quake like a aspen leaf.

　　(当这位姑娘听说这个意外事故后,她浑身发抖。)

　　2) The thief quaked with fear when he saw two policemen running towards him.

　　（小偷看见两个警察向他跑来，害怕得浑身发抖。）
