考研英语词汇辨析（98）meeting、conference、congress convention、session的区别

 　　meeting 普通用词。

　　conference 正式用词，指集合在一起进行讨论、交换意见较正式的会议。

　　congress 指来自不同团体的代表参加讨论或决定有关重大事项的会议。

　　convention 指社会团体或政党为了某一特殊目的而召开的大会。

　　session 指大会中举行的分会议。

　　1) We are only too pleased to attend to the conference to which we have been invited.

　　（我们非常高兴被来邀请参加了这次会议。）

　　2) The conference will focus on how to prevent the spread of AIDs throughout the world. （这次会议将重点解决如何防止爱滋病在全世界传布。）
